A couples of weeks ago I photographed Gabi’s and Mike’s romantic cenote elopement! We had been planning this day for so many months and finally we were there, making it happen! I was so happy the day was sunny, and was super excited to spent the afternoon with these two beautiful souls! My favourite part of the session was when I asked them if they would like to have a first dance as newlyweds. I lend them my iPhone, they searched for a song and started to dance away!
I could not be more thrilled to share this session with all of you! Almost a year ago I was invited to photograph this beautiful family at Westin Cancun Resort and Spa. This hotel is very special to me – when my family moved for the second time to Cancun, it was this hotel my dad used to work for. He took me one day with him, and I was able to roam around the corridors, play at the pool and kids club when I was just 10 years old, I made some friends (so easy when you’re a kid!) and left loving the place. 15 years later, I finally had a session booked in this hotel, and I knew exactly what spots I wanted to take pictures in.
I LOVED photographing Kristina’s and Matt’s Secrets The Vine Wedding. The hotel is one of the best in the area and I was thrilled to take wedding pictures in this gorgeous location! From the first e-mail Kristina sent me I knew she was the sweetest person, and when we met over Skype I had no doubt this celebration was going to have lots of beautiful moments!
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to photograph Shanae and Scott during their Hyatt Zilara Cancun Anniversary, and I gotta tell you, I had so much fun! Shanae has a sparkly personality, and hubby Scott is all about making her happy. This session was a total breeze! Scott even snapchatted a couple of histories during our shoot (PS! I just joined this app – Add me as monicaxlopez )
Natalia and Ming’s Iberostar Cancun Wedding was a beautiful celebration! Friends and family flew from USA and Brazil to attend this fun Cinco de Mayo wedding.
How they met sounds like from a movie: After a friends birthday, everyone gathered at Ming’s apartment for the after party. Natalia went to check on two of her girlfriends and guess who opened the door? ;) The rest is history:
“Ming proposed on March 2010 when he took me to what was supposed to be a lunch with friends. From the parking lot across the street from the restaurant, you could see a large banner on the Alaskan way sky bridge that said, “Naty, voce quer casar comigo?” (“Naty, will you marry me?”). I had no idea that the proposal was for me (even though it said Naty on it), until I turned back to Ming and saw him on his knee, with a ring in his hand… That was a moment I will never forget!”
I’m happy to announce that Monica Lopez has been listed as a member of Best Destination Vendors (you can check my listing here) under the category Cancun Wedding Photographers.
Nicole and Eric had their Destination Wedding at Gran Caribe Real at the heart of the hotel zone. Wow, where to start about this wedding? I was asked to come over and make just a 1 hour portrait session with bride and groom and their wedding party after their ceremony. The time scheduled was at 2PM, where the sun is a its peak and during August, no less. I took with me a big bottle of water, lots of sunscreen and arrived on time to see the newlyweds walking out from the chapel. When I saw Nicole on her wedding gown and Eric on his stylish suit I wished so much they had booked me for the entire ceremony – I could swear they looked like taken out from a magazine!
This photo shoot has one of the craziest jumps I’ve ever photographed! That’s what you get when you shoot with such a fun and outgoing family like the Wallaces.
Jenny and Scott wanted to commemorate their Cancun vacation with some beach photos, and wow! The water was an especially beautiful color that day.
Gorgeous bride to-be Alejandrina contacted me a year ago for her Destination Wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa. My middle name is “Alejandra” and my boyfriend’s name is “Marco”, so when I first read her inquiry I was sure this was destiny placing us on each other’s path! They both meet as teens and reconnected through Facebook (another thing in common – thanks, internet!) and they never let go again. Soon I knew she had a great vintage-chic vision for her wedding and I couldn’t wait to photograph every little detail.
Her wedding was everything a bride would like it to be:
