Generally, couples reach out 12 months or more before their big day, so the sooner you inquire, the more likely your date will still be open on my calendar. Within just 48 business hours of your submission, I’ll be in touch to share more information and next steps.

Through your personal online portal, you can sign your contract, pay your 50% retainer, and refer back to them anytime, all in one streamlined location. Couldn’t be easier! And once I receive both back from you, it’s time to get the party started.

Most of my creative clients want to look beyond what their resort provides as part of the standard wedding services, so I love serving as a boots-on-the-ground resource for my couples around the world as they search for their dream venues, makeup artists, hair stylists, and more. PERFECT THE DETAILS

The resorts of Cancun and the surrounding area generally wait to begin wedding prep until three months beforehand. So, we’ll wait until the two-month mark to start finalizing details, giving you plenty of time to plan with your venue first. A details questionnaire will help me gather everything I need from you to finalize your day-of photography timeline, build your family photo list, plan your portrait locations, and more—we’ve got this!

Celebrate your one-of-a-kind love story with all your favorite people in one of the most beautiful locations in the whole world as I capture it all

Through this six-hour collection, we’ll ensure all of the highlights—from getting-ready mimosa toasts with your BFFS to your dad tearing up the reception dance floor—become heirlooms you can treasure, display, and, someday, pass on. And if you want to make time for an intimate first look or capture the night-ending water drum show, we can add an extra hour of photography to your custom collection.

And even with this pared-down experience, you’ll still receive all of the pre-elopement advice I bring to my Heirloom couples.

  • 1. How much experience do you have photographing weddings?

    Since launching Monica Lopez Photography in 2012, I’ve photographed more than 300 weddings in Cancun and the surrounding areas. Over the years, I’ve learned that great wedding photography is not just about creativity, but also about preparation and protecting your memories. Every wedding is photographed with two cameras using dual memory cards, and your images are backed up on both hard drives and cloud storage. I also never format a card until your gallery has been safely delivered — because your wedding photos deserve that level of care.

  • 2. How would you describe your photography style?

    When I think of my unique photography style, words like innocent, dreamy, clean, and, of course, romantic come to mind. My priority is to create a gallery that helps you step right back into your wedding day! Instead of washing out the breathtaking blues of your tropical destination or oversaturating the colors to the point that they look fake, I edit to compliment the naturally vibrant tones. This ensures your images will look beautiful and modern hanging in your home for decades to come.

  • 3. Can you help us find local vendors for our wedding?

    Absolutely! As a lifelong local and 14+ year industry professional, I am ready with a list of my favorite wedding vendors to recommend. Your resort wedding day may include everything you need for a beautiful celebration, but many of my couples want to bring in external stylists and artists to bring their vision to life. I want to help you do that as easily as possible.

  • 4. What are the chances you’ve photographed at our venue before?

    With more than 14 years of local experience, chances are pretty good! I’ve become a well-known face at most of the local resorts, which means I know all the best little-known spots for photos…you know, the spots without a guy in the speedo walking by in the background or something. But if your venue is new or just new to me, don’t worry! I’ll arrive earlier so I can navigate it perfectly.

  • 5. Will just six hours of photography be enough to capture everything?

    Your friends who have gotten married in their hometowns might be shocked to hear that just six hours of photography is actually plenty to fully document a destination wedding day. Without the added time of venue-to-venue travel, you won’t need to book eight, ten, or even twelve hours of photography! I’ll arrive as you finish up hair and makeup to begin capturing details and candids, and I won’t leave until we’ve captured the essence of your reception dance floor. But if we discuss your plans and feel an additional hour or 30 minutes are needed to make sure nothing is missed, we can add more time to your collection!

  • 6. When should we inquire about our destination wedding photography?

    I recommend inquiring about 12 months before your wedding day! While I capture 40+ Cancun destination weddings each year, I still invest so much in each of my couples to ensure their experience is effortless and perfectly planned. So, while I will occasionally book the spontaneous elopement, let’s give ourselves as much time to prepare as possible—not to mention my schedule fills very quickly!

  • 7. This all sounds so perfect! How can we book?

    Yay! I can’t wait to meet you! All you need to do now is submit an inquiry through my contact page. There, you’ll be able to share your wedding date or date options and a bit about the destination celebration you’re planning. In just 48 business hours or less, I’ll share a link to book your consultation video call so we can dive more deeply into the experience and answer all the questions I’m sure have been piling up in your mind. If you decide we’re a flawless fit, a signed agreement and paid 50% retainer will officially save your date.
