Lately, I’ve had many brides interested in Mayan ceremony for their wedding, a perfect way to add part of the local culture to the celebration! Caterina and Julio wanted to have this unique experience in the turquoise beaches of Cancun. Through their on-site coordinator, they arranged all the details and the day went smoothly. I’ve already had the chance to photograph the Haugen’s beautiful family at this hotel, and knowing how the light would be, I advised to have the ceremony at 3:30 PM. I was so happy when Caterina believed in me! The photos turned out great!
During the Mayan Ceremony, she wore a flowers crown, given by the priest. He made different rituals: to have abundance in love, wealth, health, and to keep away jealousy and bad energy. After asking permission to the 4 cardinal points, and sharing their vows, Caterina and Julio, now husband and wife, finally shared a kiss. Shortly after papers were signed, we headed down to the beach to start a Trash The Dress session. Both had fun in the waves, hugging and tickling each other!
