Keyla and Jose woke up to a cloudy day for their Akumal beach trash the dress session. Their wedding day was exactly the same, but the locals here have a nice say: “Rain is a good omen, it brings good luck, cleansing and fertily”. These love birds decided to go with the flow, and that’s how a day with a chance of rain turned out to be great.
Some thunders roared the sky and the smell of wet land on our way to Akumal was strong. The clouds cleared and we were able to take some sunny pictures among the jungle and an incredible lagoon. At the middle of the shoot it started raining. No clouds around, just a small breeze. Karla and Jose didn’t believed it and they just laughed and welcomed the rain! It was a real, beautiful, moment.
The couple decided to move to the beach where they walked along the shore, kissed and laughed together under the rain. There was a moment when the rain poured so hard, we ran like kids to take shelter under a small palapa, thinking to ourselves “Nothing like the tropic!” Karla and Jose were tired at the end of the session (our bride had surgery two months before!) but so happy for the aventure.
It was an amazing experience to photograph in different conditions and put my skills to test, and I just want to thank Karla and Jose for trusting in me and my abilities.
The local’s say must be true, because up to today this couple is still madly in love and with so many plans for the future! <3
